IMSc offers Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. programs in Mathematics. Applicants for the Ph.D. program should have completed a Masters’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics from the time they actually join the program.
Applicants to the integrated Ph.D. program should have completed a Bachelors’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics from the time they really join the program. Outstanding applicants with a Bachelors’s or Master’s degree in other fields will also be considered for admission to the integrated Ph.D. program.

UGC-CSIR NET Examination
For entrance into the Ph.D. program, the applicant ought to be qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Please be aware that:
- Just those people who have qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are eligible to use.
- People who have qualified for the sole Lecturership are NOT ELIGIBLE.
- Please note that the maximum CSIR position is 150 and below.
- Please be aware that you have to create your correspondence from CSIR-UGC informing you of your eligibility as JRF at the time of your interview.
- Online applications for CSIR qualified applicants will soon be accessible later, and the Interviews will be held from 26 to 28 June 2019.
GATE Qualified Candidates
- Please be aware that you have to create the valid Gate Score Card at the time of your interview.
- Please be aware that the minimum score required is 97%tile.

How to apply: IMSc 2020
Candidates aspiring for admission to the IMSc Ph.D./Integ. Ph.D. programs in Mathematics must appear for the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) Ph.D. scholarships Screening Test.
The IMSc academic year begins from the month of August. To apply for August of a given year, candidates should write the NBHM examination held in January of that year. Candidates should apply directly to the NBHM in order to write the screening evaluation. They want not to send another application to IMSc.
IMSc (and HRI) will get the test scores and copies of their software straight from the NBHM and will send call letters to applicants that have passed their screening criteria. Interviews are held in March/April. The final selection of applicants will be based on their performance from the interview.

The Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), founded by Alladi Ramakrishnan in 1962, is a sovereign national institution for basic research in the areas of Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science and Computational Biology.
